The month of April is a fantastic month to visit Barcelona and its territory. The sunlight lengthens in the evenings and the temperatures are very pleasant during the day.
This month’s agenda is full of activities and family proposals. But above all, we highlight the great Catalan festival of literature, Sant Jordi on April 23.
“Món Llibre” children’s and young people’s literature in the spotlight
When: April 14 and 15
What: Festival of children’s and youth literature, with book presentations, activities, and workshops as well as shows for children. A nice and fun way to teach the liking for reading.

The highlight of the month: Sant Jordi
When: April 23
What: Sant Jordi is the patron saint of Catalonia. Legend has it that in a village terrorized by a dragon, the villagers sought to calm him by feeding him with their own animals. When the animals were finished, the villagers decided to offer humans, including the King and his daughter. One day, it was the turn of the princess to be offered to the dragon. When she was going to be devoured, a knight appeared, Sant Jordi … and killed the dragon. From his blood a rose was born, which the knight offered to the princess.
On April 23, the day of Sant Jordi, a rose is given to the beloved. It is also a great cultural festival, it is the day of the book, and that is why we give books that day. The festival is lived in all the streets of Barcelona, and especially Las Ramblas, which is flooded with strollers with roses and books.
Where: On the streets of Barcelona, especially in the center, on Rambla Catalunya, Paseo de Gracia and especially on Las Ramblas. We advise you not to miss admiring and photographing the facade of Casa Batlló covered with roses.

Disney Expo

What: An exhibition to discover the art of telling stories in Disney, where we can see more than 250 original pieces. An excellent way to enter the Disney world and find your favorite characters: Mickey, Donald, Snow White, Elsa and Anna, Ariel, the Little Mermaid…

PortAventura and Ferrari Land
When: Port Aventura World has reopened since March 23. New this year, from April 20, there will be a kids’ area with children’s attractions in Ferrari Land (more information)
What: PortAventura is an amusement park of 126 hectares located between Vila-seca and Salou. After receiving almost 4 million visitors each year, it is the first ranked park in Spain and the 4th in Europe.

Family activities in the Baix Llobregat
When: Throughout the month of April
What: Not all months are the same. In April, the Baix Llobregat has scheduled an exceptional offer for families. It is the most familiar month in history.
During the 5 weekend of April, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, families with children can enjoy a tourist offer tailored to your needs. Visit the Casa de les Punxes as a family
When: every day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
What: For children, this modernist house offers a fun way to discover the legend of Sant Jordi. Thanks to its audiovisual with the recreation of the characters of the legend, landscapes and situations experienced by Sant Jordi, the princess and the dragon. You will also visit a modernist house, the work of Puig i Cadalfach, very similar to the castle of the princess with its 6 pointed towers.
