What to see

Once you arrive at Güell Pavilions, you’re greeted by an incredible iron gate featuring a dragon! Made by Antoni Gaudí, the gate is the perfect way to start exploring this park that showcases the Catalan modernista style. He was inspired by the Garden of the Hesperides, from Jacint Verdaguer’s L’Atlántida. Beyond the gate take a walk through the stunning gardens, with plants, trees, columns, a crane, and a fountain that used to be a Güell summer estate. Be sure to check out the stables and horse ring that Gaudí designed, and read up on the history of the working conditions of Barcelona in 1905.

Güell Pavilions: worth the trip!
If you are interested, there is an informational 15 minute video about Art Nouveau and Society, which is a great way to learn about the time period in which Gaudí lived in. Don’t forget to take a look at the details in the buildings, with the intricate tiles and colorful details that could only be the work of Guadí. The details of his work are picture perfect, and although this is not one of his more famous works, as a tourist, I think this is well worth the visit and is a hidden gem of Barcelona.

Family friendly!

This would be a great spot to visit with your family, with enough history to keep children interested. The park is fun to explore and children would love to visit the different spots within the garden. The crane is very cool to see, especially for kids!
